Jill and I are super excited to announce that we are releasing a REVISED AND UPDATED version of our popular 2013 release Go Teen Writers: How To Turn Your First Draft Into a Finished Book!
The new title is Go Teen Writers: Edit Your Novel, and will be available for purchase on November 6th. Less than a month away! (Credit for the sleek new title goes to Shan. Thanks, Shan!)
Earlier this year, we realized that it had been five years since we released the first edition. WOW. Not only have we changed and grown as authors since that initial publication, but the publishing industry has changed so much in the last few years.
The revised and updated version has much of the same information about effective and efficient editing, but there are also new chapters on historical and historical-inspired fiction, and revamped chapters on querying, traditional publishing, and self-publishing.
If you want to read three chapters NOW rather than in November, and receive an email as soon as the book is available for ordering, sign up by clicking here.
Want to help with the cover reveal?
Also, Jill and I would love your help with sharing our beautiful new cover!
If you have an Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter account, and you want to participate in a cover reveal on Tuesday, October 23rd, please fill out the form below by Thursday the 18th.
Those who help will be eligible to win one of two print copies of the new book. Thanks for considering!
Here’s what you can expect from the new book:
You know your first draft has problems, but what’s the best way to fix them? How do you know where to start editing? Or for many writers the bigger question becomes, How do I know when I’m done?
We’ve been where you are, and we want to help you understand, and even come to love—yes, love—the editing process.
In this revised and updated edition of Go Teen Writers: Edit Your Novel, you’ll learn:
• Methods for efficiently editing your novel.
• What problems to look for in your manuscript and how to solve them.
• Where to start editing, and how to know when you’re done.
• How to keep track of your story’s character, storyworld, and setting details.
• How a critique group can help you.
• The pros and cons of traditional and self-publishing.
• An overview of pitching your novel and making writing your career.
• And much more!
Teaching yourself how to edit a first draft can feel hard, discouraging, and isolating. But using this guide, you’ll feel as encouraged, empowered, and capable as if you had a writing coach sitting alongside you.
We can’t wait to share the revised and updated edition with you!
Awesome! I love the original edition, and I can’t wait to read the updated version! I don’t have Instagram/Twitter/etc., so I signed up to reveal the cover on my blog, if that’s okay :).

Yes, that would be lovely! Thanks, Allison!
So excited for the rerelease of this!
Thank you! Us too!
A re-release of the GTW book?? Oh my gracious, that’s so exciting! I’m beyond stoked for this <3. (also, I wanted to sign up for the cover reveal, but I only have a blog – would I still be able to? If not, I totally get that, but I thought I'd ask ;))
Yes, we would love to have you! Go ahead and sign up using the form and Jill will be in touch. Thanks, Savannah!
I have a private account. Am I still eligible?
Yeah, that’s no problem. To be entered for the giveaway, we’ll need you to send us a screenshot or something of what you posted.
