I am on vacation today, likely winding my way through a national park, gazing at trees. I thought I’d leave you all with some words of encouragement from some wise people. Some of these quotes have really made an impact on me.

Thank you for these words of encouragement!
I love the quote by Robert Cormier that says, “The beautiful part of writing is that you don’t have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a brain surgeon.”
That is absolutely amazing! I love that quote! I definitely will use that from now on when I need something to lift up my spirts!
I know right? 😀
I LOVE that quote. It is both inspiring and hilarious! 🙂
😀
Love it, Alana. I love Robert Cormier’s books too. The Chocolate War is a favorite of mine.
I’ll have to check that one out!
The one about people thinking about you is Eleanor Roosevelt? I always thought it was Dr Phil!
I’m not sure who said it (I know it’s wasn’t Dr. Phil, lol). That I like is “the worst thing you write is better than what you don’t write.”
I don’t know who that is either, but I like it!
When I saw it & thought about it, my perspective changed. I remind myself of it often & it has helped me write past blocks!
Ha! Love Dr. Phil. Lots of counselors say things like that. The “What people think of you is none of your business” one is also one I’ve heard people in the counseling field say. Love your quote, Tonya. Some places on the Internet attribute that to Sol Saks the screenwriter.
All of these quotes are so inspiring! I really like the Neil Gaiman and Pablo Picasso ones.
So glad they’ve been inspiring to you all!
These are so great! I’ve been looking for quotes from authors for the past couple of days so these are perfect (:
Lovely words of encouragement!
I have many favorite quotes, one of them being “If plan A doesn’t work out, the alphabet has 25 more letters.” It’s silly, but somehow still encouraging for me as I remind myself that the first try isn’t the only try.
That is so cute, Camille!
I love these quotes! Thank you, Jill, for compiling these words of encouragement!
I love all these quotes! They’re all so inspiring, fun, and true. I might print them out for my writing motivation board. Thanks! 🙂
I like the last quote by Joseph Campbell. It reminds me of “the road not taken” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Another quote I like is “We are all broken; that’s how the light gets in” by Ernest Hemingway.
Also love all Tolkien’s quotes, but the one I think of most often when writing is “It’s the job that’s never started as takes longest to finish.”
