We are so excited to share that Go Teen Writers is now on Patreon!
If you’re unfamiliar with Patreon, it’s a place for creators to receive support from their community while providing exclusive content and opportunities in return. We call our Patreon community W.I.P.s for Writers In Progress because the focus of our community is to help writers progress to that next level.
We have two levels of membership currently:
Sprouts: $5 a month
- Access to exclusive, short-form teaching videos. These are 15ish minute videos where Jill and I pick a topic and have a conversation about our thoughts. This month we talked about tips for coming back to writing when you’ve been away for a while. Next month, we’re talking about decisions we’ve made as writers that have served us well, preparing for NaNoWriMo, and more.
- Discord community with extra access to us.
- Monthly “word sprint” days hosted by us. These will take place on Discord and will be organized events to help us write more together.
- Book club membership and discussions. Each semester, we’ll pick a writing craft book and work through it and discuss together how to apply what we’re learning to our writing.
- Additional 100-for-100 writing challenges throughout the year. The 100-for-100 is our most popular event and another one will start up in the fall for W.I.P.s!
Saplings: $12 a month
Saplings receive everything in the Sprouts column to the left as well as:
- Access to exclusive writing and publishing workshop videos. These are classes that we have recorded and that are only available to W.I.P.s. These classes are about an hour long. We’ll have several release throughout the fall, but right now we’ve released two classes, “How To Finish A First Draft” and “Mistakes I Made So You Don’t Have To.”
- Digital copies of both Write Your Novel and Edit Your Novel.
- Detailed lists for writers that you can download. These are really detailed lists that Jill has put together just for W.I.P.s, like the lists in the back of the Edit Your Novel book.
- Free U.S. shipping on books purchased through GoTeenWriters.com and our author websites.
Here’s a video of us talking about the Patreon community:
To be clear, GoTeenWriters.com isn’t going anywhere! W.I.Ps on Patreon is meant to be an additional and affordable opportunity for those in our Go Teen Writers community looking for more ways to learn and grow, not a replacement for the learning and growing happening right here!
We strongly believe in continuing to offer free resources for teen writers. We will still be posting free articles most Wednesdays, hosting the 100-for-100 in the summers, and interacting with you here in the comments section or on Instagram. We have some really great guests lined up in the next few months, including Gillian Bronte Adams, author of The Fireborn Epic.
We are SO excited for this fall!
What “extras” would you be most excited to see in our Patreon community? Let us know in the comments so we can be sure to build the community that you want!
